Day #3 – A Tulsa Christian Summer Camp Director’s Journal – By Hope Chitwood
All this rain at camp has turned everything green!! And the pond is SO FULL! I’m excited because campers will actually get to jump off the tower at camp this summer! Now there’s plenty of water to swim, canoe, kayak, fish, play water volleyball, and so much more! We have exciting games planned for the waterfront this summer. You’ll have to visit the Fold to see all of the awesome things for yourself!
I met with OK Corral yesterday. We are SO EXCITED for camp to get here! DJ Connections is going to host a karaoke night for the kids at camp and there will be inflatables one night as well. Then of course, the traditional swim night and ice cream sundaes! For those of you who don’t know, OK Corral is a camp put on by the American Cancer Society for kids who have survived cancer. It’s a really cool camp. The kids are REALLY awesome and the camp is a lot of fun! The nurses are pretty awesome too.
The spring retreat is in a month!! This is crazy talk! Be sure to sign up soon. There is LIMITED SPACE! Click http://www.shepherdsfoldranch.com/summer-camp/registration-enrollment?ee=38 to register today! I promise it’s going to be a ton of fun (as usual). There will be TWO campfires, one with hotdogs and one with s’mores. PLUS we have ROCKIN’ AWESOME new night games!! You won’t want to miss them! On top of all that, our summer camp staff will be here running the retreat!!!!!! A lot of forerunners are coming out to help. Let me tell you, the forerunners this year are INCREDIBLE! They are so willing to serve in any capacity. I love that they’re a part of the SFR family.
Today I’m going to Claremore for a meeting at my church. Then I’m going to meet with Devona! WOO HOO! She’s one of my best friends. We talk about the summer and camp and kids at camp. It’s fun to reminisce about summer camp memories. Devona also helps me at retreats sometimes. She’s got a wonderful servant’s heart and a great attitude. Everyone would be blessed to have a friend like Devona. I know I am.
