The Furnace: Making Disciples Who Make Disciples
Discipleship Doesn’t End After High School
Graduating from high school is a significant milestone, but it is also a season filled with important decisions. Young adults begin asking questions about purpose, calling, career, relationships, and what it truly means to follow Jesus as they step into adulthood.
At Shepherd’s Fold Ranch, we believe this season deserves intentional investment.
The Furnace is a discipleship training program designed for young adults who want to deepen their faith while serving in a Christ-centered community. Rather than viewing graduation as the end of a student’s spiritual development, The Furnace recognizes it as the beginning of a new chapter of discipleship.
This program helps participants build a strong biblical foundation that prepares them to faithfully follow Christ wherever He leads.
Learning to Live What You Believe
The goal of The Furnace is not simply to increase biblical knowledge. It is to help young adults develop lives that reflect the character of Jesus.
Throughout the program, students study foundational truths of the Christian faith while learning how to apply those truths in everyday life. They are challenged to become examples of Christlike character through humility, service, integrity, and spiritual maturity.
Teaching includes topics such as:
- Spiritual authority and biblical submission
- The foundational teachings of the Christian faith
- Following the example of Jesus
- Walking in love as described in 1 Corinthians 13
- Living as an example to other believers
Students also serve together as members of the Shepherd’s Fold Ranch summer staff, learning valuable leadership skills while investing in younger campers. This combination of study, service, and community allows discipleship to move beyond the classroom and into daily life.
Equipping the Next Generation to Make Disciples
Before Jesus ascended into heaven, He gave His followers a clear mission: make disciples.
That mission continues today.
The Furnace exists to help young adults embrace that calling by preparing them to influence others through faithful living, biblical leadership, and genuine love for Christ.
Whether participants are called into vocational ministry, the workplace, higher education, or their local church, the goal remains the same. We want them to leave prepared to serve faithfully, lead humbly, and invest in the spiritual growth of others.
Healthy disciples make disciples.
That vision has shaped Shepherd’s Fold Ranch from the beginning, and it continues to guide the ministry as each new generation is equipped to follow Jesus and help others do the same.
