A Safe Place For Your Kids

We know safety and transparency are incredibly important. That is why Shepherd's Fold Ranch is accredited through both the American Camp Association and the Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability. The ACA is a MASSIVE program that focuses on administering policies, procedures, and best practices of camp operation, particularly those related to program quality and the health and safety of campers and staff. The program educates and sets a high standard for safety for everyone at camp and is nationally recognized for the highest accreditation.

Many parents avoid camp because they fear their child won't cope. At SFR, our staff is specifically trained to handle separation anxiety. We turn those nervous first nights into lifelong memories of triumph. Your child will prove to themselves that they are brave and capable.

We help kids grow in confidence in a safe, Christian environment.

Ministry at SFR

Q: What’s this summer's ministry theme?

A: This summer’s theme is still being prayed over and developed! It is our 54th  Summer of ministry!!

Q: Why does Shepherd’s Fold do baptisms?

A: A week at Shepherd’s Fold is a powerful time that God uses to change lives. Baptisms are an outward expression of that inward change. It is a public statement of a camper’s commitment to be known and to live fully committed as a follower of Christ.

Q: What if my child wants to be baptized, and can I be there?

A: All campers will be asked by their counselor no later than Thursday if they want to be baptized. If a camper would like to be baptized, a Senior Leadership Team member will call the parent to discuss the camper’s request. Parents have the final say if their child is baptized.

Baptisms will take place on Saturday prior the closing ceremony. And of course, parents are invited to attend the closing ceremony, baptisms, and awards!

Safety

Q: How do I know my camper will be safe?

A: Your children are the most precious possession not just to you but to God. We will do everything we can to ensure your child’s safety, health, and well-being. Here are a few things we do to ensure your child is well cared for:

  • Clear background checks for all staff
  • Intensive discipleship training and training in all camp policies and emergency and security procedures as well as behavior management and child development for all staff
  • Certification for all staff in first-aid and CPR
  • Certification in other expertise areas including lifeguarding and ropes course
  • Follow all American Camp Association standards

Shepherd's Fold Ranch is an accredited camp with the American Camp Association.

Q: What about severe weather?

A: Our leadership staff keeps watch for any severe weather (high winds, hail, lightning, tornadoes.) In the event of severe weather, campers will be moved to shelter until it has cleared. All staff are trained in severe weather procedures and will instruct campers throughout the situation.

Camper Communication

Q: Can I come and visit my camper?

A: Parents are not able to make on site visits during camp.

As much as possible, we will limit deliveries/ drops offs and advise any outside vendors to follow safety protocols. Guests who need to come into camp (parent’s picking up campers outside of normal check-out times, etc) will need to check with camp director prior to arrival.

Q: Can I send my camper mail?

A: Yes! You can mail your camper a letter:

Camper’s Name

℅ Shepherd’s Fold Ranch

Camper's Camp (Treehouse Village, Ranch Camp, Forerunner Camp

PO Box 39

Avant OK 74001

You can also send an email to your camper through your online camp portal.

Q: What if my camper is homesick? What’s normal? How do staffers handle it? When will I be contacted?

A: Homesickness is normal, especially for first-time campers, and most campers adjust quickly as they build friendships and get involved in activities. Our staff are trained to comfort and encourage campers, help them feel safe, and gently guide them back into the camp experience. We also have a dedicated Camper Experience Advocate who provides additional support when needed. If homesickness persists or becomes a concern, a member of our leadership team will contact you to keep you informed and discuss next steps.
