An Invitation Before a Challenge

At Shepherd’s Fold Ranch, every teaching begins with a simple invitation from Jesus: “Come to Me.”

Before Jesus asked His disciples to follow Him, serve others, or carry responsibility, He first invited them into relationship. That same invitation remains at the center of our ministry today.

In a world filled with expectations, performance, and pressure, young people need to know that Jesus begins with an invitation, not a demand. He invites us to know Him, trust Him, and experience His love.

This perspective shapes how we teach at camp. Our goal is not simply to communicate information or encourage better behavior. We want campers to encounter the person of Jesus and discover that a relationship with Him is available to them right now.

Following Jesus Is the Heart of Discipleship

The invitation to come to Jesus naturally leads to another invitation: follow Me.

At Shepherd’s Fold Ranch, we believe discipleship is more than attending church, learning Bible stories, or having a meaningful camp experience. True discipleship is learning to walk with Jesus in everyday life.

That is why our teaching philosophy emphasizes relationship before responsibility. When campers understand who Jesus is and experience His love, they become more willing to trust Him with their decisions, relationships, and future.

Throughout the week, campers are encouraged to consider what following Jesus looks like in practical ways:

How we treat others
How we respond to challenges
How we spend our time
How we make decisions
How we grow in faith

Rather than presenting Christianity as a list of rules, we present it as a daily relationship with Christ that transforms every area of life.

Teaching That Points Campers Toward Jesus

Every lesson, object lesson, testimony, discussion, and worship gathering at Shepherd’s Fold Ranch is designed to point campers toward Jesus.

Our teaching team works to ensure that Scripture remains the foundation of what we share. We want campers to see Christ as the center of the story and the example for how we live.

One of our guiding principles is that teaching should point to Jesus as the example, never to the camper as the mistake. While we all need growth and transformation, lasting change begins when we see the goodness, grace, and faithfulness of God.

When campers leave Shepherd’s Fold Ranch, our hope is not simply that they remember a lesson. We hope they leave with a greater desire to know Jesus, follow Him, and continue growing in their faith long after camp ends.
