Love Does
Over the past several weeks I read the book Love Does by Bob Goff. It has been a fun read, and life-changing. In his book, Goff tells stories of his life and offers a whole new way of life on following Jesus. His presentation of his Big Ideas is simple and exciting. The basic underlying message that is out in front the entire time: LOVE DOES. It’s that simple. Love doesn’t need the right money or the right time, it simply just does.
You can Google quotes of the book, and if you are anything like me, you’ll be hooked from the get-go! The book is encouraging, exciting, and empowering. All I’ve got to do is use what God has given me – nothing less, nothing more.
I received the blessing of getting to hear Goff speak in Tulsa last Monday – for free! He was here speaking for Stand In The Gap Ministries. I was delighted when Goff began speaking and he sounded just like he jumped straight out of his book. Goff in real life is twenty thousand times more fun than he seems in his book. Goff is a light-hearted, story-telling, justice-seeking man of God and I hope I’ll get to personally meet him one day. I’d love to call him my friend. He had his personal cell phone number printed in the back of his book. I plan on giving him a call and asking if he will make a visit to camp this summer. I guarantee it’ll challenge your thinking and might even change your life.
“Failure is just part of the process, and it’s not just okay; it’s better than okay. God doesn’t want failure to shut us down. God didn’t make it a three-strikes-and-you’re-out sort of thing. It’s more about how God helps us dust ourselves off so we can swing for the fences again. And all of this without keeping a meticulous record of our screw-ups.”
