Medical Care at Camp

Summer camp at Shepherd’s Fold Ranch is a really fun place for kids—they love the country setting where they can run and play without the distractions of city life. There are fun things to do throughout their entire day including hiking through the woods, swimming in the pool and pond, shooting bows and arrows during archery, playing basketball and Frisbee golf, and many other exciting activities. We strive to prevent injuries, but are fully prepared when life happens.

We have a Registered Nurse on site during all summer camp sessions. The RN is someone who is connected to SFR through a staff member or well-known camp family. They go through an interview process that includes an application, reference and background checks, as well as a personal interview with the Camp Director. We verify their RN license by checking the Oklahoma Board of Nursing website.IMG_2825

In addition to having a RN on site, we certify all of our summer staff in CPR and First Aid through the Red Cross, and also have a doctor in Skiatook who we can call and visit if needed (Dr. Layne Subera). If more serious emergencies occur, Skiatook EMS is less than 20 minutes away, and we are less than 30 miles from Owasso, which has multiple emergency rooms.

In the event that a camper needs to visit the camp nurse or a medical center, SFR will contact the camper parents in a timely manner, informing them of the situation and any actions that need to be taken from that point.

Parents may contact SFR at any time. The office staff can be reached at 918-263-3622, Monday through Friday from 9a-5p. If parents need to reach SFR staff during non-office hours, the Executive Director’s (Ron) cell phone number is 714-580-1848.

If you have further questions on SFR Health Care Procedures, the Camp Nurse, or Emergencies Procedures, please contact the office at 918-263-3622
