Meet the Camp Director
Hi! My name is Hope Chitwood (on the left in the photo) and this will be my third year serving as the Camp Director at Shepherd’s Fold Ranch. My journey at SFR began in 2008, when I joined the Furnace (SFR’s summer discipleship program) and served as a counselor for Treehouse Village, Western Camp, K-Staff (A.K.A kitchen staff), and a Red Cross certified life guard. I had grown up in church my entire life. Honestly I can’t remember a time when I did not know the Lord, but it was during the summer of 2008 that I discovered the relationship aspect of Jesus – living life for Him, WITH Him. Before camp was ever over that summer, I had already signed up to come back to the Fold and be a part of the Furnace in 2009.
After serving the first two summers, I was invited onto the Summer Leadership Team and in 2010 served as one of the Coordinators for Treehouse Village. Along with Stuart Kennedy, I planned the schedule, decorations, and ministry teachings, as well as ran the 2nd-7th grade overnight camp. The summer after that I served as one of three Assistant Camp Directors, where I oversaw the planning and running of Treehouse Village, Western Camp, and our Saint Francis Health System Rental Camps (Camp OK Corral and CHAMP Camp).
Since August of 2011, I have been leading the camp and the staff as the Shepherd’s Fold Ranch Summer Camp Director. Being the Summer Camp Director is not just a job to me – it’s my lifestyle. The Lord has blessed with the most perfect opportunity for this season in my life. I get to openly serve and talk about the Lord every day AND I get paid for it. I am able to function in the administrative gifts He has given me, work in the office as well as outside, AND I get to share and teach the story of Jesus to 30+ staff and over 600 campers each summer. WHAT GETS BETTER THAN THAT?!?! I am most definitely blessed.
