The Cost of Camp
One of the most frequently asked questions and camp determining factors of choosing a camp is – “What is the cost of camp?” To attend one session (Sunday afternoon through Saturday morning) of camp at Shepherd’s Fold Ranch is about $565 for an overnight camp and $150 for day camp. This price is all-inclusive for camp – meals, lodging, staffing, activities, t-shirt, backpack, and water bottle. We are not in this industry to make money. The price of camp simply covers the cost to do camp.
There are no required additional costs, but if you choose, you can deposit money into the Top Rail (also known as the camp store). It is set up just like a debit account – you deposit an original amount and spend (until your money is gone). If you have money leftover at the end of the week, you can cash it out, or you can donate it to the Don Staires’ Campership Fund. The camp store is home of fantastic things like SFR apparel, Frisbee golf discs and other merchandise, sugary snacks and drinks, as well as photo CDs with hundreds of photos from the entire camp week.
Don Staires, one of the founders of SFR, had the heart to make a way for families who could not otherwise afford it so that every child could encounter the Lord at summer camp. Since he has gone home to be with the Lord, we have established the Don Staires Scholarship Fund to continue on Don’s legacy of ensuring finances do not get in the way of campers gaining the full camp experience. This past summer (2013) donors enabled Shepherd’s Fold to give away 85 scholarships to campers.
